Last updated:
This site collects very little personal information: no account, no form, no newsletter, no ads. This page explains what it does collect, why, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible
JEMSO is the music project of Jean-Michel Audet, who is the person in charge of the protection of personal information. For any question or request, write to contact@jemsomusic.com.
When you visit
As with any website, your browser sends the host, Cloudflare, your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. Cloudflare uses them to serve the site and protect it from abuse and bots. If a network error occurs, your browser may also send it a short technical report.
Cloudflare also compiles aggregate traffic statistics from its own servers: number of visits, countries, pages requested. Nothing is loaded in your browser for this, and no cookie is set.
Language cookie
The site sets a single cookie, named "lang", and only when you switch languages with the FR/EN button. It remembers that choice for one year. It holds "fr" or "en", nothing else, and is only used to show the right language. If you never click that button, no cookie is set.
When you write
If you write to contact@jemsomusic.com, we receive your email address, your name if it appears in the message, and what you wrote. We use it only to reply and follow up on your request.
Links to other sites
Links to streaming platforms and social networks are plain links: nothing loads from those services until you click. Once you are on their site, their own privacy policy applies.
Bandcamp player
When the home page offers the Bandcamp player, nothing loads until you click "Listen here": the page shows only the cover and the button, with no request to Bandcamp or Google and no cookie.
That click loads the player from bandcamp.com. Your browser then contacts Bandcamp and Google, since the player includes Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for Bandcamp's own statistics. As with any website, these services receive your IP address and your browser type.
Bandcamp also asks your browser to store two cookies, one for a year and one for the session. Whether they are stored depends on how your browser handles third-party cookies.
Bandcamp and Google collect this information for themselves, and Bandcamp's privacy policy applies to it. Their servers may be located outside Québec, including in the United States.
Providers and outside Québec
No information is sold, rented or used for advertising. Two providers handle some of it for us:
- Cloudflare: hosting, security and traffic statistics for the site.
- Apple (iCloud+): receiving and storing email.
Their servers may be located outside Québec, including in the United States, where the information is subject to local laws.
How long we keep it
- Visit data: kept by Cloudflare under its own rules. We do not copy it, and the statistics cannot identify you.
- "lang" cookie: one year, or until you clear it in your browser.
- Bandcamp player: what Bandcamp and Google collect is kept under their own rules.
- Email: kept as long as it is useful to follow up on your request or our exchanges; the rest is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to contact@jemsomusic.com. We reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, Québec's privacy regulator.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version replaces this one on this page, and the date at the top of the page changes.
